Files that don't need a re-export pass.

Native XCS for xTool Creative Space. Printer-ready PDF/X-1a. CMYK-TIFF in FOGRA39. DXF for CNC. All written directly from the same customer design — no Inkscape detour, no manual colour mapping, no "please re-send in the right format" email.

What you do by hand after every order today

Apps like Zakeke, Customily, Inkybay and Customthings output SVG or PNG. That's fine for preview — useless for production. Owners do the re-export pass by hand: 3–8 minutes per order, 5 days a week, every minor change a new chance for a mistake. Etchify writes the production-format directly.

Before · today
The Inkscape re-export loop
  1. 1.Customer designs in browser, downloads SVG export.
  2. 2.Owner opens Inkscape / Illustrator manually.
  3. 3.Re-map stroke colours to cut/score/engrave by hand.
  4. 4.Convert to DXF for the laser, or to CMYK PDF for the printer.
  5. 5.Re-send to customer if the print shop rejects the colour profile.

~3-8 min/order · multiplied by 50 orders/week · ≈ 4-7 hours of pointless re-formatting.

After · Etchify
Drag and drop. Done.
  1. 1.Customer checkout fires the orders/paid webhook.
  2. 2.Etchify writes the production-file in the exact format your machine eats.
  3. 3.Owner downloads the ZIP from the Production Dashboard.
  4. 4.Drops it onto xTool Creative Space or sends it to the printer.
  5. 5.Machine starts. No re-export loop.

No re-export step: the file you download is the file you run.

Native to the machine. Native to the printer.

Each format is written directly from the design — no chain of converters. Layers are split per operation; the machine settings stay in your hands.

XCS

all
xTool Creative Space — native file format

Writes real `.xcs` files. Engrave, score and cut arrive as separate layers — you set speed and power in xTool Creative Space. Customer-design pixels never touch Inkscape.

For: P2, D1 Pro, M1 Ultra, F1 Ultra owners running engraving + cutting on the same Shopify product.

PDF/X-1a

all
Printer-compliant PDF/X-1a:2003

CMYK only. ICC profile embedded. Fonts outlined. The standard your offset / digital printer actually asks for in their submission spec.

For: shops sending designs to Druckerei / Druckpartner / Print Shop submission portals.

CMYK-TIFF

all
CMYK-TIFF · FOGRA39 / SWOP / sRGB-v4

Pillow ImageCms colour-transform with the ICC profile your printer specifies. Not "kind of CMYK" — the actual profile. Mount your own ICC under /icc_profiles to add custom paper stock.

For: DTF / DTG / sublimation / wide-format printer workflows that ask for embedded-profile TIFF.

DXF

all
AutoCAD DXF R2010 (mm / in)

ezdxf-generated. Real polyline geometry, not SVG-traced bitmaps. Layer-per-operation: CUT, SCORE, ENGRAVE. CNC routers, vinyl cutters, plasma tables. Available on every paid plan because everyone needs it.

For: CNC mills, fiber lasers, vinyl plotters, plasma cutters, water-jet.

Sorted per cut mode. The parameters stay with you.

Etchify does not set laser parameters — that happens in XCS or LightBurn. What you get is a file that is already sorted: one layer per process and cut mode, ready to import.

  • One layer per cut mode
Engrave, score and cut land on separate layers. DXF layers are named after the operation.
  • Colour convention for LightBurn
Each cut mode has its own stroke colour in the SVG, so LightBurn puts it on its own layer on import.
  • XCS import
The .xcs file opens in xTool Creative Space with the layers already split. You set speed and power there.
  • Optional starting values
Optional starting values for a few materials — you set the final speed and power in XCS or LightBurn.

Comparison reflects publicly documented behaviour. "Partial" means the app claims a related capability (e.g. Inkybay "print-ready PDF" without X-1a compliance, Customthings "xTool support" via SVG-coloured-stroke convention, no native .xcs). We will gladly correct any inaccuracy — contact us.
